McGill CF studded female joints are made from carbon steel. The ball and thread are inserted into the body and the body is then swaged around the ball to lock it in and it is then loosened to allow it to move. These joints are ideal for use in areas which do not have a large force present or for gear/throttle linkages or where vibration may be heavy at the ball. These are commonly used on vehicles in oval racing.
